Welcome to Winter!

Welcome to your monthly Bayside Dance newsletter! Read on to find out all about what’s been happening at dance and what’s coming up next. Our monthly newsletters are a great way to share information so we encourage you to take a few minutes to read it through.

June Exams
Mock exams are officially underway for our upcoming June exams. Participating dancers, make sure to double check the exam website for the latest information and timetables. All exam dancers require uniform for their mock exams and on exam day.

It’s almost holidays
We’re nearing the end of Term 2 but remember we do follow the state school calendar so term finishes on Saturday 24 June. If you’re going away early (or are ever missing class for any reason), you can let us know in advance via email or text. Term 3 starts on Monday 10 July.

Pyjama Week!
Celebrate the end of a wonderful term (and keep warm) with Pyjama Week! Dancers are invited to wear their pyjamas to dancing throughout week 10 (Monday 19 to Saturday 24 June). Pyjamas should be safe to dance in, and appropriate shoes should still be worn.

Winter Holiday Workshops

Join us and Little Acorn Kids Parties & Workshops
for three days of fun these school holidays!
Wednesday 5 July – Disco Fever (5-10 year olds)
Disco fever will be happening on the dance floor, so get your dancing shoes on and dance the day away! All disco dancers can enjoy the hair braiding/mohawk bar and not only will the disco be pumping, you can chill out at the ice cream bar. A variety of flavours and sweets are on offer. Wear your brightest disco outfit!

Thursday 6 July – Christmas in July (5-10 year olds)
Get your winter woolies out and enjoy the magic of Christmas! Design your own beanie to wear to our Christmas workshop. Enjoy making gingerbread, edible christmas trees and magical slime. You can warm up at our hot chocolate bar and enjoy dance the winter weather away on the dance floor.

Friday 7 July – Winter Wonderland (3-6 year olds)
Come and join us at our winter wonderland and discover the magic of winter! We will be decorating snowflake biscuits, designig our crowns and wands and making snowflake ornaments. We’ll also twirl our way through a wintery dance class.

Special Project!

Did you know this year marks Bayside Dance’s 10th concert season? For this year’s concerts, we’ll be celebrating nearly 10 years of dancing by remembering the best of Bayside Dance and we need your help for a special project!

We’re putting together a slideshow featuring memories from our nearly ten years of dance together and you can help by emailing your favourite dance memory photos to

We want to see photos of your first day of dance, your concert or performance memories, recent photos and more!
Please note:
– maximum 5 photos per dancer/family
– photos must be original and not from Facebook/Instagram

We can’t wait to revisit our dance memories with you!

From Miss Kaitlin

Who’s who in the zoo?

One of the things that sets Bayside Dance apart from other dance studios is our incredible Leadership Team! Here’s a little bit about each of these four ladies and what we look after.

Me first! I’m Kaitlin, and I founded Bayside Dance in 2014 and am the Director of the studio. I look after big picture planning, finances, hiring new staff, ensuring we are up to date with policy and legal requirements and am responsible for the strategic direction of the studio. I haven’t had a regular teaching load this year but do manage our performance teams and am creative director of our end of year concerts.

Miss Kate is our Assistant Director. She first joined our team in 2015 as a teacher, progressing to preschool program coordinator and then assistant director in 2022. She is in charge of our teaching staff, our DanceStep student teacher training program, exams and teaches lots of our classes. Sometimes Miss Kate and I get mistaken for the one person but we can assure you we are two people – even if we dress the same sometimes!

Miss Lauren is our Customer Experience and Events coordinator. She takes care of reception and reception staff, our building and our studio events. She’s also the key driver of our holiday programs and our musical theatre program! Lauren joined our team in 2021 and, fun fact, worked for Disney before she worked for us!

Jaime you might not ever meet in person but we assure you she’s real! Jaime started helping me manage our administrative workload in 2015 and has since grown her role to look after our accounts, enrolments and generally keeping the rest of us sane when things get very busy!

Evolution Dance Competition

Congratulations to our Talent Development Program dancers who competed in Evolution Dance Competition! This was our first time competing at Evolution and our dancers performed so wonderfully, earning 90+ marks in every one of their routines!

We hosted the first of our many mock exams over the weekend. For dancers that complete SFD exams in ballet, tap and jazz, mock exams with our qualified teaching team are an invaluable learning tool which we are so proud to offer.
