Here we go!

We love Term 2! Our dance floors will get a real workout over the coming term, with lots happening in classes, exams and preparation for competitions.

If your student is undertaking an exam this year, we have some advice below to help you understand what is required and how to enjoy the process.

Don’t forget we have lots of dance wear and shoes available to buy at Reception, as well as some cute new brushes and hair kits if you’re needing to top up your hair supplies.

Congratulations to our Junior Dancer Company and Young Dancers Company who competed at Wynnum Manly Eisteddfod over the weekend! It was so wonderful to finally see our students back on stage in front of an audience. They performed beautifully amongst a very high standard of competition and should be so proud of not just their performances, but also their positive attitude on the day. Huge thanks also go to all the parents who supported their dancers – we couldn’t do this without you!

July Holiday Workshops

Following the success of our Easter holiday workshops, we are thrilled to bring you another week of holiday workshop fun in July!

We’ll continue with the magical combination of dance fun and craft activities with Little Acorn Kids Parties and Workshops, but bring you a whole range of new themes to enjoy.

WINTER WONDERLAND
(5-10 years)
Monday 5 July, 9am-3pm
Shake off the winter chills with our Winter Wonderland workshop! Enjoy snow inspired craft activities, an arctic scavenger hunt, an ice-cool hip hop class, a frozen ballet class and more!

Designed for 5-10 year olds. Boys and girls welcome.

MERMAID MAGIC
(5-10 years)
Tuesday 6 July, 9am-3pm

Splash down at our Mermaid Magic holiday workshop! Make your own mermaid and indulge in a range of under-the-sea craft activities. Finish the day with mermaid-inspired dance classes and a treasure hunt set to make your tail wave!

TEDDY BEAR’S PICNIC
(3-6 years)
Wednesday 7 July, 9.30am- 12.00pm

If you go down to the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise!

Delight in our teddy bear’s picnic! Enjoy a bear-inspired dance class, and fur-ific craft activities. Make your own teddy bear and take them on a bear hunt before we enjoy a picnic tea party!

Designed for 3-6 year olds. Boys and girls welcome.
BYO morning tea

The perfect day for your dancer includes pointe shoe decorating, stage hair and makeup tutorial, dance dream board making, a safe stretching class, an inspiring ballet class and more! Perfect for booking with your dancing bestie!

Designed for 9-14 year olds.

Early drop off available from 8am, late pickup available until 4pm

What happens in an exam?
On exam day, an SFD examiner will visit Bayside Dance. Students wear their class uniform, with hair neat and tidy and clean shoes. Dancers will enter the studio in their class groups, and perform their class repertoire for the examiner.

When do we get the results?
Results will be delivered to Bayside Dance then distributed to families. We encourage dancers not to share results with each other as it’s not a competition–everyone is aiming for their own personal best. Good luck!
