  5. Tips & Tricks for a great start to our Preschool Program

Welcome to all our Bayside Dance Preschool Program parents for 2017!

We are looking forward to seeing all of our Itty Bitty, Teeny Tiny & Tiny Tots dancers next week for their first class of the 2017 dance year. As the new year begins here at Bayside Dance we like to take a special interest in our preschool dancers, as we know the beginning of a new activity or return to dance after a long break can be a big and exciting step!

Here are a few tips, tricks and reminders ahead of classes next week that we have found in the past work wonders for a great first lesson at dance:

– Arriving on time with a few extra minutes to find a park and then put ballet shoes on in the waiting room allows your dancer some chill out time to get ready for the class ahead.

– A toilet stop before leaving the house or right before heading into the studio ensures class keeps running smoothly.

– A few days out from class, begin having conversations with your dancer about how much fun they are going to have, what they will wear and most importantly what is expected of them in class. These can be things like “Let’s practice using our listening ears before ballet tomorrow!” or “Mum and Dad are going to be so excited to hear all about what you practiced at dancing – what are you most excited about?”

For our Itty Bitty dancers, we understand that heading into class for the first time without Mum or Dad can be a bit daunting. For our first class, feel free to walk your child into class and watch off to side as your child meets their teachers and gets acquainted with class.
For our Teeny Tiny and Tiny Tots dancers, the teacher and/or assistant teacher will meet you in the waiting area and walk the class into the studio all together.

There is a CCTV screen in our waiting area where classes can be viewed by parents and carers and periodically throughout the year, we hold Parent Watching Weeks where you are welcome to sit in on class.

Next week marks our first full week in our new studio at 2/264 Tingal Rd, Wynnum. There is dedicated Bayside Dance parking onsite (we kindly ask that you park only in the dedicated Bayside Dance spots) as well as lots of street parking around the studio. If you would like to come and take a look at the studio ahead of your class next week, we are open Monday the 30th, Tuesday the 31st of January and Wednesday the 1st of February from 4.30pm – 6.00pm.

Again, welcome to 2017 at Bayside Dance – we are so excited to be starting a wonderful year of dance with you all!
